SAWASDEE THAI KITCHEN - WAHROONGA, SYDNEY

Some hidden away suburban eateries can be a real discovery and others a place to chalk up to experience. Sawasdee is at the discovery end. It’s a small Thai restaurant and not unlike a lot of places in the “burbs” it does a decent trade in takeaway meals. That said, it still seems like the bulk of their trade comes from a very constant flow of people visiting to eat in.

We started our evening meal by ordering two entrees - the money bags and the Thai fish cakes. Both are dishes we’ve regularly had at other Thai venues. We expected them to arrive separately but they were both on the same plate and they were so eye catching. They both tasted great too with their separate dipping sauces.

Massaman beef is such a hearty and tasty dish. Yes it’s rich but it’s so packed with flavour it’s something we find hard to resist. This one lived up to our expectations with plenty of tender beef chunks, potatoes, peanuts and of course their curry gravy. The jasmine rice went perfectly and also soaked up the sauce nicely.

Spying the noodle dish Mee Grob was a great discovery. The slightly warm crispy noodles were coated in a tangy sauce and served with prawns, beef slices and fried tofu. It had great flavours. This is a dish we’d eagerly have on a regular basis.

The menu here is quite extensive with plenty of seafood and meat options. There are also quite a few vegetarian dishes too. The Thai favourites we all love are also available.

We really enjoyed the food here at Sawasdee Thai Kitchen. It’s fresh, tasty and looks great too. Service is friendly and the food arrives quickly. It does BYO too!
