ALICE'S MAKAN - SYDNEY CBD

Alice's Makan
580 George St
Sydney CBD

Alice's is something of a legend in the Malaysian restaurant world in Sydney.

It's been around for a long while and plenty of people have eaten there.

We had heard about this place quite a while ago but it was now time to put it to the test and see what their food was really like.

They have two counters there - one to order from and receive a buzzer to take to your table and the other to collect your meals from once your buzzer goes off when your order is ready.

Decisions decisions. What to order. Well we decided to have a few starters first. The beef curry puffs sounded and looked good - and tasted the same. The chicken skewers were tender and the peanut satay sauce was nicely nutty and not overly spicy.

Then it was on to the chicken curry. It came in a meal combo with three roti's and a soft drink. The curry was very nice but the roti was excellent. We've been spoiled with good roti lately and this was up there.

Then the mains - or really the main mains. We had a delicious char kway teow that was packed with goodies like squid and prawns and had great flavours. We also had a sweeter mee goreng that was a fruitier dish with plenty of flavour. Both were good sized servings too.

It's easy to see why Alice's Makan is popular. There dishes are prepared to order, but quickly. they have plenty of flavour and come in good sized servings. It's a great place to have a good lunch or dinner at very reasonable prices.

Sir and Mlady's visit to Rasa Delights was supported by the Malaysian Kitchen Programme.
