ANVIL COFFEE CO | ARTARMON, SYDNEY

November 18, 2016

Anvil Coffee Co
17 Dickson St
Artarmon, Sydney

Anvil Coffee Co is reminiscent of a funky Melbourne café. You notice this straight away. Melbourne makes use of just about every space – as does Anvil. It has an Industrial feel and there is a “roller door” adding to the concept even more than most places do. There is some pretty unique decorative machinery around the place too.

We started with the all-important first “cuppa” of the day. Sir had his usual skim flat white – one sugar. Mlady her usual – weak soy cappuccino. To describe it succinctly – great coffee!

With her meal Mlady tried a Bruce cold pressed juice – Redder - which consisted of beetroot, apple and ginger. Being a huge fan of ginger and beetroot and with the apple – this juice certainly tasted good. Mlady had it with ice – nice.

To eat Mlady had Mushy Peas – this was crushed peas, jamon, poached eggs and goat’s cheese. Simply loved the vibrancy of the greens. This all sat on toast which we think was sourdough bread. When it arrived it smelled so good. It was a substantial serving too. The goat’s cheese was a really good taste accompaniment. Oh and those poached eggs were nice and runny.

Sir had the Anvil Breakfast Bowl which was pistachio tabbouleh, crushed avocado, kale, heirloom tomatoes, pickled cabbage and poached eggs. This substantially served dish was vibrant in colour and tasted absolutely delicious. Sir loves his avocado and with all these other great tasting ingredients – he thoroughly enjoyed it.  Sir said that it had fresh tangy flavours.

We were both so full but we managed to try the pineapple cake. Why not! It was served still warm and it was soft in texture with a slice of pineapple embedded on top. It was light and not too heavy which was good after our substantial and delicious breakfasts. We could have devoured the entire cake - if we weren't so full!

The food at Anvil Coffee Co is fresh, vibrant, and tasty and the servings are generous. There is a good selection of Bruce cold pressed juices and the coffee is really good. This is a gem hidden in the burbs that's well worth finding!

Sir and Mlady dined as guests of Anvil Coffee Co. Big thank you to Fouda and Johnson for taking care of us. Special thanks to April from CPM Online Marketing Solutions for arranging our visit.
