COOH | ALEXANDRIA, SYDNEY

November 20, 2016

Cooh
90-96 Bourke Rd
(Cnr Bourke and Collins)
Alexandria, Sydney

Cooh - the calming soothing sound a mother sometimes makes - the melodic noise a bird may produce - and now its also a surprisingly large restaurant/cafe/bar on a corner in Alexandria that relaxes you as soon as you enter with a cool decor and fit out. This place oozes industrial chic with a subtle tropical feel there as well. Think big tables, timber and concrete and plenty of greenery. It's probably very apt too considering they have a focus on serving healthy and organic food.

We'd been shopping at the nearby Homemaker Centre and as we all know, shopping requires fuel. We all need input for output don't we? It was brunch time and the menu had plenty of good choices to consider.

Sir, on somewhat of a health kick - we'll see how long that lasts - uncharacteristically chose the veggie bowl - kale, avocado, chunky wedges of roasted sweet potato and dairy-free pesto topped with two seriously free-range eggs. Turned out, surprisingly even for him, that he loved it. The mix of colours, textures and flavours impressed him. It was a big serving too and that didn't hurt as his appetite isn't meagre by any standards!

Mlady was torn between two choices. Whilst her English origins were showing through as she eagerly eyed-off Cooh's Bacon and Egg Roll, her inner healthy conscience finally swung her to their Smashed Avocado and Salsa. This filling dish had smashed avocado with tomato, onion, coriander and corn salsa served with lemon on toasted sourdough. She was very happy with her choice - even though she did mention the B and E roll a few times on the way out!

We of course tried a few coffees and they arrived quickly and hit the spot nicely. They also do a number of different juices here as well. Mlady had one made up that had orange, carrot and ginger. She loved this!

Cooh was calming and a very pleasant place. Would we go there again to try their other food - lunches and dinners - in a flash. If the rest is this standard then it's a place well worth repeat visits!
