Spoonful Thai Cuisine

So many suburbs these days have their “go to” Thai restaurant that the locals swear by. Spoonful Thai Cuisine in Beecroft is one such place. It’s a little tucked away as it’s upstairs from street level and not street facing. That said though, they’re always busy. It’a a sure sign it’s good!
We really love it when places use betel leaves to wrap delicacies. It’s a great use of them. Here they come with a filling of prawns with a tangy mix of lemon juice, red onion, coconut and peanut. It all combined so nicely to create a great flavour burst.
Satay chicken skewers are hard to resist so we eagerly grabbed a serving of four. The marinated tenderloins were tender and tasty and the peanut satay sauce was rich and full of those big nutty flavours we love.
Sir spotted the Peking duck rolls and they were added. These came in a serving of four with each wrapped roll filled with a decent amount of duck meat. A dish of hoi sin sauce for dipping completed the dish.
For our mains we started with a big bold massamun beef curry. This is always a hearty dish and this one was no exception. The curry itself was packed with flavour and the dish had plenty of tender beef that literally fell apart and soft potato pieces. We loved soaking up the sauce with rice as we didn’t want to waste any of it.
Wanting a noodle dish too, we went for the tried and proven pad see ew. These flat noodles coated in their tangy sauce came with egg, veggies and chicken. As we’ve said before, this dish is great for sharing and also great as a meal on a plate.
Finally we chose a stir fry. We went for duck that came with mixed vegetables and we chose a garlic and pepper sauce which also had a good splash of soy sauce present too. The strong flavours worked surprisingly well with the duck meat.
Spoonful Thai Cuisine is a pleasant room that has a nice buzz going on. The menu is very extensive so there is no shortage of choices.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit there. Suburbia has its favourites for each locale and its very easy to see why Spoonful Thai Cuisine is so popular in Beecroft and the surrounding area.
