KURTOSH - CROWS NEST, SYDNEY

Kurtosh
110-112 Willoughby Rd
Crows Nest, Sydney

If you haven’t heard of Kurtosh, well, you’re missing out on something really good. These venues are scattered across Sydney and offer some of the tastiest desserts on offer, including their signature namesake - kurtosh.

So what is a kurtosh you ask? Good question! Its an abbreviated word for a Hungarian treat, called a Kürtőskalács, that’s baked on a spit over coals till golden. They are most often coated in cinnamon and sugar and there are variations around the original region. For example, we’ve had trdlniks, which are very similar, in Prague. To you and us they look like spirals of toasted bread sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. They smell great and taste just as good. They’re quite big too so be prepared for a filling dessert. You can get other coatings too.

This place also has so many other sweet treats too. Take a look along their counter and be prepared to be swayed. The choc brownie cookies looked amazing so we grabbed one of them too!

Here are just some of the choices available. They all look so good it’s hard to resist them.

We did end up buying a few more “extras” to take away. We love a good palmier and these looked good. They also tasted good too.

They also do a variety of pastries as well.

We love what they’re doing here - offering so many different desserts and sweet treats. We love their signature kurtosh but left with a lot more. the cakes are paid for by weight which is quite unique. Decide how much you want and that’s what you pay for. Tasty sweet food done well!
