FOREST LODGE HOTEL - FOREST LODGE, SYDNEY

This inner city pub has been around for ages. It’s art deco façade gives way to a fresh homey interior that is very different to what you may initially expect. We were in their back room which had a really relaxed “Hamptons” feel to it.

They do a good range of pizzas here and the Spanish Inquisition had a great mix of flavours on it. It was a combination of chorizo slices and prawns on a thin base with coriander, mozzarella and slices of spicy jalapeno chilli. It had a subtle kick to it and tasted great.

Beer battered fish n chips is always a crowd favourite and this version was no exception. It was on a lot of tables. It had two battered market fresh fish fillets with salad, chips and a tub of tartare sauce. The batter was nice and crispy and the fish was tender inside. The chips were good too!

The roast teriyaki pork neck was one of the more unusual dishes. It had a big piece of marinated pork on top of Asian greens, soba noodles, mushrooms and miso sauce. It was a big tasty feed for a big appetite.

They also do platters and share plates for functions and larger groups. This cheese platter we had was delish.

Even on a hot day - or a very hot day - it’s pleasant inside. The air conditioning and fans do keep things comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Forest Lodge Hotel. The décor was very pleasant, the food was tasty and arrived quickly and the extensive range of craft beers were delicious too. It’s a great local pub!
