Ever have a craving for a particular type of food and you just can’t shake it? We did and it was for dumplings. The restrictions had limited our regular dumpling hits and we needed them badly. We headed to Chef’s Gallery inside Macquarie Centre to satisfy this need. We knew they served dumplings - and more - and knew they’d be good.

Strangely, despite our dumpling cravings, our first dish ordered was Peking duck roti. We love Peking duck anyway and the idea of having this inside flaky roti had us eagerly ordering it. This came in a serving of six plump pieces with plenty of duck, cucumber and hoi sin sauce inside the flaky shell. It was a great start.

We then moved on to prawn and pork wontons in spicy sauce. These were great with lovely dumplings sitting in a sauce with a nice kick. It was a dish we’d gladly have again and again.

We finally had a selection of goodies. One of the dishes gives you two each of prawn dumplings, chicken and prawn shui mai, vegetable dumplings and finally BBQ pork buns. It was great to get four different items in one serving. Variety is the spice of life and this was a great way to sample a cross section.

If you can, it’s great to sit near to the kitchen which has a glass wall. You get the chance to have a look at the preparation process which even goes to hand making and stretching the noodles. It’s a meal and a show!

Whikle we only had a small cross section of dishes available here, the menu is very extensive and worth close examination before ordering. Spend a bit of time going through it because you never know what you may find that grabs your attention.
