CAFÈ SALIGNA - WEST PENNANT HILLS, SYDNEY

A cosy cafe serving good food in a state forrest - what a great idea. Well that’s what you get here with Cafe Saligna. The fact that there’s a plant nursery there too is a bonus. This indoor/outdoor cafe fits in nicely with its surroundings. There is plenty of timber and greenery that works well with its location.

We were there for lunch and there was plenty of options available. Mlady chose the steak sandwich. It was a big feed too with scotch fillet, double Jack cheese, mixed leaves, tomato, confit onion and creamy aioli all packed inside ciabatta bread and served with a basket of chips. This big, bold, tasty meal hit the spot nicely. The chips were great too!

Sir loves corn fritters as he grew up with them. The corn fritter here was one massive corn and vegetable fritter on the plate topped with avocado and tomato salad, creamy labneh, a fried egg, sweet potato ribbon, fresh herbs and dukkah. It was a busy dish with lots of flavour and different textures that worked well together. It was also much healthier than Sir normally has so he enjoyed his meal and as an added bonus had his greens too!

Cafes mean coffee too. Even though we were there at lunch time we still grabbed a couple of coffees. They serve Campos here and it was great.

We sat outside and it was certainly a relaxed and relaxing space. The greenery everywhere and birds around added great natural atmosphere. It’s a lovely spot.
