WILDWATER GRILL | DEE WHY, SYDNEY

WildWater Grill
4 The Strand,
Dee Why, Sydney

Dee Why is a popular place for a weekend lunch. There’s a great range of cafes and eateries lining the beachfront and a nice vibe to the place. Wildwater is on a street corner, with a welcoming wood-featured interior and alfresco dining options with views of the gorgeous beach. We take an outside table to soak up the sunshine.

The menu looks good – light meals and share plates as well as burgers, grilled meats, salads, steaks and seafood. It’s quite an extensive menu which would suit all tastes.

As our glasses of sparkling wine arrive, we decide on a Vegetarian Tasting Plate for one and Garlic Prawns to start. The garlic prawns were grilled and stacked on a tasty avocado salsa. It was a lovely dish which looked and tasted so appealing.

The Vegetarian Plate was such a huge dish it would have made a great meal for one on its own. It was an impressive selection of roasted Mediterranean vegetables with salsa verde, zucchini and haloumi fritters, organic olives, chargrilled asparagus, potato and quinoa croquettes with a cumin aioli, stuffed field mushrooms and schiacciata bread. Everything was done well and very delicious.

Next we wanted to try the half rack of Pork Ribs from the grill and although the steaks sounded amazing, we opted for the Crispy Skin Salmon Fillet. The salmon was served on a potato , chive and quinoa cake with pickled radish and salsa verde. It was true to name – the skin crisped to perfection and the fish nicely cooked.

Then it was time to get down and dirty with that succulent rack of ribs! We donned our bibs and got into the tender meat and tangy “Lekker” baste. The ribs were tasty and the salad on the side was a nice fresh contrast. We chose sweet potato fries to accompany the meat and it was a good combination.

Dessert! Not much room left but the choices looked so good! We ordered the Chocolate Hazelnut Pudding with hazelnut ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was a big portion and so deliciously fluffy and light. We really loved this sweet treat!

The Crème Brulee was equally amazing. It had the perfect crispy toffee layer which tasted divine and the cream was smooth and rich. Most impressive.

It was lovely by the beach and we really enjoyed our day relaxing at Wildwater Grill. The restaurant is open weekdays from 11.30am until 3pm then 5 to 9pm. Weekends from 11.30am until 9.15pm. They do functions (the menus look very reasonable) and families are catered for with a good kids menu.

Thanks to the lovely Amelie, who looked after us so well and to Chrissy Symeonakis from Creative Little Soul for this invitation.
