THE SUGARMILL HOTEL | POTTS POINT, SYDNEY

September 2, 2016

The Sugarmill Hotel
33/37 Darlinghurst Rd
Potts Point, Sydney

Mlady had another one of her cravings (oh dear).  This time it was for a dark beer and salad. Sir being the gentleman , obliged.  We decided on The Sugarmill Hotel - a Keystone venue right in the heart of Potts Point.  It is such a lovely venue. Quite eclectic with oversized lamp shades and silver disco balls. Saw a Stag head on a wall. The décor is timber emitting warmth and it's a relaxing environment.

Mlady’s beer certainly ticked the boxes. The barman was very helpful and recommended The Hotchkiss Six. It was described in a picture on the wall as – Stout, dark and fruity. Truly a delicious beer if you can describe it like that. Mlady loved it!

The salad of choice was the Rustic Greek salad. It came with Roma tomato, cucumber, fetta, marinated olives, red capsicum and Spanish onion.  Again – delicious. It was fresh – nice crisp lettuce with plenty of olives and fetta and a substantial amount of chicken which she chose to add to the salad.

Sir’s beer was a lager of which he too enjoyed and it went well with his meal. He chose a rump  steak with creamy mash and salad. The steak was cooked to just as Sir likes it – medium rare and the mash was lovely and creamy. The gravy was nice and thick and just topped the dish off nicely.  Combining the steak with the mash and gravy – lovely.

The Sugar Mill was quirky and quaint. The food was good and it has a nice feel to the whole place. It's somewhere you can just drop in or stay for a while.
