Next Door is the newest venture from Made in Italy. Literally, it is next door. Tucked into York Lane in the centre of the CBD, Next Door has the right mix of a trendy crowd, laneway vibes and great decor. Next Door is small, but they use their space well. It is clear they love their trade of Italian food, with a relatively small menu full of delicious food. They also offer a great cocktail list, with classics and house specialities.
To drink, Duke chose the 'Made at York Lane' - this was rosemary infused Bombay Sapphire Gin, Aperol and fresh lemon, garnished with a rosemary sprig. This was fresh and a unique twist. He enjoyed it. Duchess had the Martini Espresso Twist, which reminded her of a cinnamon donut, only caffeinated. It has cinnamon infused Finlandia Vodka, Patron XO Tequila, Fresh Espresso, Vanilla Sugar, and a cinnamon sugar rim.
To eat, we shared the Capricciosa pizza. This had a beautiful base - not too thin or thick. The toppings were fresh and tasty, with ham, mushrooms, italian sausage, oregano and chilli flakes. We also had the Mamma Mia gnocchi. This was napoletana sauce, italian sausage, mushrooms and fresh cream with beautiful gnocchi. We loved this - it was rich and tasty and very filling.
Next Door is a great little post-work drink and bites haunt, with great tunes and a fun vibe. Thanks to Simon for organising our visit.
