THE WATERSHED HOTEL - DARLING HARBOUR, SYDNEY

The Watershed Hotel sits in a prime position gazing out across the water of Darling Harbour. If you can get one of the outside tables at sunset on a nice day it’s so lovely jto sir and watch the world go by while having a drink and a bite. This is exact what we did on our visit!

We started with a bottle of wine. As it was a warm evening, and seafood was calling us, we chose a nice chilled rose. It was just right.

It seemed almost every table around us had garlic bread. It wasn’t something we’d planned to order. The odours wafting around us made it impossible to resist. We’re glad we did though as it was good garlic bread - but it was quite filling with everything else we ended up having to eat!

We decided to order their seafood platter. These come in two sizes - big and small. We were hungry and went for the big one. It certainly had a nice mix on it too. On the platter was local lobster, fresh local prawns, pacific oysters, smoked salmon, prawn twisters, panko crumbed calamari, Hawkesbury river squid, beer battered flathead, fries and a house salad. It’s hard not to be content when you’re eating tasty seafood, looking out over Darling Harbour and sipping on a chilled rose!

While fitting in in dessert was a struggle, we did our best. Sir loves having churros and they were available so the decision was made. It’s a phase of his at the moment. Mlady tried valiantly to talk him out of it - but failed. She did minimise the waistline damage to him though by kindly sharing them at great personal sacrifice. It didn’t hurt that they were nice churros either with a tasty dipping sauce.

With its views out over Darling Harbour this is an ideal place for people watching and of course eating and drinking a bit too! Grab a balcony seat and let it all happen. Alternatively, head inside and chill out there.

We we left The Watershed Hotel full and satisfied. It was a very pleasant way to spend an evening - eating seafood with water views. Life is good with this combination!
