LILONG BY TASTE OF SHANGHAI | HURSTVILLE

Lilong by taste of Shanghai
Level 4, Westfield Hurstville

Hurstville, Sydney

Lilong is located on Westfield Hurstville's newly renovated rooftop dining precinct.  The cuisine is authentic Shanghainese and the variety of this wonderful food is amazing and diverse.

The ambience is as if you were sitting comfortably in a friend's or relative's lounge room surrounded by their nostalgic and historical pictures and ornaments.

The hard part was choosing what to eat but after much deliberation and analysis of their huge menu we decided on the following -

Xiao Long Bao Steamed Pork Buns (8 pcs), Shrimp & Chive Steamed Dumplings (8 pcs), Barramundi in Sweet & Sour Sauce, Half Peking Duck with Pancakes 8 pcs and Duck San Choy Bao 6 pcs and some steamed rice.

The steamed Pork buns with the amazing soup inside - got to eat them whole - Yum and the Shrimp and Chive Dumplings were really delicious. They really tasted good and we loved the vibrancy of the colour of the steamed dumplings.

The Barramundi had such a "WOW" factor. What arrived on the plate was the whole fish. With the head at one end and the tail at the other, the middle had the gorgeous, cooked to perfection pieces of flesh encased in this amazing sauce. There were prawns throughout - even in the mouth of the fish which Mlady quickly spied and ate. Peas added to the bright colour and they also combined well. This was a seriously mouth watering dish.

Sir - loves duck. So of course it was no surprise that we ordered a duck dish. How good was this. It arrived all so neatly in their set-out. You make your own pancakes by combining  as much of the duck or cucumber as you like and drizzling that oh so tasty sauce - lovely!

Again, putting as much as you want onto the crisp lettuce to encase the delicious duck - nice!

We combined the steamed rice with the very tasty sweet and sour sauce from the Barramundi and also combined it with the San Choy Bau - so good.

The food here is so good with so much to choose from in homey relaxed surroundings.

Sir and Mlady dined as guests of Lilong by taste of Shanghai. Special thanks to Vanessa Gregory from Wasamedia for arranging our visit.
