ESPRESSO WARRIORS - WARRINGAH MALL, BROOKVALE, SYDNEY

Espresso Warriors
Warringah Mall
117 Old Pittwater Rd,
Brookvale, Sydney

Conveniently located on the upper level of Warringah Mall Westfield shopping centre, Espresso Warriors lures in hungry customers with its display cabinet of delectable sweets and pastries; and what shopper can’t look past the giant tub of Nutella out the front. Although the Northern Beaches of Sydney has a large variety of dine-in cafes and coffee shops, Espresso Warriors finds its niche by delivering beautifully plated meals with a mix of worldly flavours, whilst also being affordable with well sized portions. And as the name suggests, they make a great cup of coffee.

Espresso Warriors has seating inside the cafe, as well as extra seating in the mall, with room for couples, small gatherings and large groups. We had a lovely spot right in the back corner, close enough to experience the warm, wholesome allure of bacon and eggs being cooked, but far enough away to enjoy some privacy. Straight away our coffee orders were taken, and within minutes Duchess received her flat white with oat milk and Duke dived into his large latte.

With a vast menu of brunch options, pastries and mood-boosting, healthy juices and smoothies, we needed a few minutes and then some, to pick our first meal of the day. To start with, and to buy a bit of time, Duchess ordered an immunity booster juice which had carrot, ginger, turmeric, orange and lemon in it. The verdict - it was delicious, nice and cold with a subtle taste of ginger, not taking away from all the other flavours. Duke went the dairy route, deciding to start with a breakfast banana smoothie which was made from milk, banana, honey and ice, blended and topped with fresh banana and chia seeds. The taste of both were superb and the added fruit on the top, made us feel like we were on vacation.

The time had come and we ordered our mains. Duchess ordered the corn and zucchini fritters, topped with a poached egg, roquette, creamy avocado, tomato relish, pesto, a lemon wedge on the side, and to top it off, she added the halloumi. The relish complemented the savoury taste of the fritters, with a beautiful layer of sweetness, whilst the pesto counteracted the sweet relish with a creamy herb flavour.

Duke had the breakfast stack, which was everything you could ever need in a hearty breakfast. Served on a piece of toasted sourdough, the stack consisted of sauteed kale, avocado, sliced tomato, bacon, two poached eggs and melted cheese. This was all topped with a sweet balsamic glaze that was just delicious. The highlight was the poached eggs, which were both cooked to perfection.

Having walked past the amazing counter of sweets, cakes and danishes when we arrived, we couldn’t help but take some of these goodies home to try a little later. Not to be greedy, we decided to pick only three sweets, choosing to go with the chocolate croissant, salted caramel slice and lemon tart.
