ALROY TAVERN | PLUMPTON, SYDNEY

Alroy Tavern is a picturesque Victorian-era house built in the 1880s. There is outside seating but on this day we decided to eat inside with friends in one of their many wonderful rooms.

The meals we ordered were :-

Pasta of the day - Alla Romera - described in the menu as pan fried chicken, pesto, pumpkin, spinach, tomato cream, parmesan & fettuccini. This was a big serving. like everything here. It was big on clour as well as flavour.

Chicken Parmigiana Schnitzel - topped with eggplant, tomato, napoletana & mozzarella. It's hard to resist a good schnitty or parmi and this was good. There was plenty of it, as there should be and it came with a nice side serving of veggies.

Alroy Grill minute steak, sausage, bacon, chicken, cutlet, rissole, tomato, egg chips and salad. A good big fry up is always popular and this one had a great mix of goodies on it. That great egg on top capped it off perfectly.

Seafood plate - battered fish, grilled garlic prawns, salt and pepper squid, smoked salmon, tapas mussels, fries, tartare & salad. If you like seafood a combo can sometimes meet a number of needs in one hit. This big serving did just that.

Spaghetti Bolognese stated on the menu that it was the "biggest and best in town". There is no doubt it was a big serving and the verdict was that it also certainly tasted good too.

Only one of us could fit in dessert. The dessert of choice was Caramel Sin pudding- warm caramel, sticky date pudding with vanilla bean ice cream. Such a nice combo - the tasty warmth of the sticky date pudding - with the oh so good vanilla bean ice cream - delicious.

The meals were all fresh and very substantial. Presentation of the dishes was quite spectacular. The "pub grub" at Alroy Tavern is truly very appetising. Service is very good with friendly and accommodating staff.
