PANE E VINO - BRISBANE CBD

Pane e Vino
124 Albert St
Brisbane CBD

Sitting in a prime position on the corner of Albert and Charlotte Streets in Brisbane CBD doesn’t hurt foot traffic. Pane e Vino has snared this spot and certainly benefits. We decided on sharing a variety of dishes. It’s such a great way to eat and socialise. We started with bruschetta. The toasted bread was topped with lovely pieces of fresh tomato marinated in garlic, basil, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic. It was a refreshing starter on a hot evening.

Next choice was the Fritto Misto share plate. Who doesn’t like fried seafood! It’s perfect for sharing and great for a balmy Summer evening.

Arancini is a lovely starter or share dish. These rice balls with peas and mozzarella were big and tasty and even more so with the slathering of Napoli sauce that coveted them.

We actually learned the traditional Italian way to make light and fluffy polpette in a cooking class on a visit to Rome. Since then we’ve ordered it more regularly just to compare what’s on offer. The pork and beef meatballs here turned out to be very nice indeed. They were cooked and served with a home made tomato sauce and came with toasted ciabatta and Parmesan.

Pane e Vino - meaning Bread and Wine - is a casual trattoria style eatery that sets a great scene for a relaxed meal. Just sit back and enjoy it.

We really enjoyed the food at Pane e Vino. The simplicity of good ingredients portrayed by its name flows through into the feel of the restaurant and the dishes they serve.
