GNOME - SURRY HILLS

Gnome
536 Crown St
Surry Hills

A gnome is small and quirky and this place lives up to its name. It has good coffee and a small but interesting choice of food for breakfast, lunch and now even dinner.

With my coffee ordered it was hard to resist ordering the eggs benny breakfast roll consisting of poached egg, hollandaise and ham on brioche. It was light and subtly tangy. The egg was perfectly cooked and the whole meal was nicely presented on a small breadboard. At.$8.50 it was reasonably priced too.

I must admit a few other breakfast items were close to being chosen
before I was tempted by the eggs benny. The burnt fig muesli with
pears, berries and yoghurt for $10 looked pretty good as did the
grilled polenta, asparagus, poached eggs, truffle oil and parmesan for $14 (cause truffle oil is almost always a winner). Oh well - maybe next time!

Gnome is a great little place that seems to be gradually being
discovered more and more. The longer hours will also help spread the
word too!
