BOURKE STREET BAKERY - SURRY HILLS

Bourke Street Bakery
633 Bourke St
Surry Hills

Sitting on the corner of Bourke and Devonshire Streets is the busy little bakery and coffee shop of Bourke Street Bakery. There are literally four seats inside but plenty outside on the Devonshire St side (if its fine).

The first thing you need to know is that you'll need to queue. This will vary in time depending on when you are there. Next, you won't get to see the options available till you're close to ordering - so be ready to decide quickly. Finally, its cash only, so be prepared.

The croissants are in the European style - straight not horseshoe shaped. They are light, flaky and have a rich full flavour. At $3 each they are pricey - but very nice.

The pain au chocolat is also light and flaky with a rich chocolate layer sweetening it from end to end, these cost $3.50.

The rhubarb danish was hard to resist. It wasn't big but it was as tasty as it looked. It cost $4.

If you're eating there you can also grab a coffee from $3.

Bourke Street Bakery is a quaint little shop serving extremely tasty baked items and is well worth a visit.
