On a prominent corner of a busy roundabout in Heatherbrae is Heatherbrae Pies - nestled among a variety of fast food options for travellers.
We were looking for sustenance on our journey north and a pie seemed like an appealing option. Our group split up - some went for pies and some went for the other fast food options.
The Diggers Pie has chunky steak and onion. The pastry was nice - light and not gluey. The filling was tasty too with plenty of chunky pieces of tender steak.
The Chicken and Veg Pie was similar. Good pastry and a hearty filling. Both chunky pies were $5.15 each.This place has quite rightly earned a good reputation for good pies.
They have plenty of sweeter things too as well as coffee and drinks.
Its a decent food stop when travelling.
