ROCA BAR - BARCELONA, SPAIN

Roca Bar
Carrer del Rossello 265
Barcelona, Spain

Anything with the famous Roca name against it is bound to attract attention. These three brothers are the force behind El Celler de Can Roca, the three Michelin starred restaurant in Girona in Catalonia Northern Spain that was rated the top restaurant in the world in 2013 and 2015, and second in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2018. It’s impressive. Well they spread their influence to Barcelona with Roca Moo inside the Hotel Omm. Just outside was Roca Bar where you could stop for a drink, a bite or an entire meal. We dropped a while ago by for a drink and a snack a while back. Both venues in Barcelona have since sadly closed.

Chips are a nice start to nibble on but these were a bit different. These artichoke chips were very tasty and there was a good pile of them too in this bowl.

We can’t resist croquettes and this is even more so when we’re in Spain. These Iberian ham croquettes came served in a cute basket and they tasted great. They were hot and crispy on the outside and lovely and soft inside.

Again, these were not your usual chicken wings. These chicken wings were de-boned and came served with Hoisin sauce. The bamboo tongs for serving were a nice touch too.

We were in a bar so a well deserved glass of white wine or two was well and truly required. They had a good list to choose from too.

We love anchovies, white or brown. These brown Cantabric sea anchovies were served simply on slivers of toast. It was a nice snack with great flavours from the anchovies shining through.

The menu here was quite varied for what was a bar area outside a restaurant. It had plenty of snack options as well as full meal choices too. They even had desserts so you could spend the whole night here at the bar eating a three course meal and having drinks.

R.I. P. Roca bar. It was fun while it lasted. We certainly enjoyed our visit there.
