LITTLE LILY'S WINE AND TAPAS | LITTLE BAY, SYDNEY

June 19, 2016

Little Lily's Wine and Tapas
3/4 Pine St
Little Bay Sydney

Little Lily's is a friendly casual venue with both inside and outside seating that can cater for approximately 100 people. There dishes are seasonal and on Sunday afternoon's they have live music. On Thursday's cocktails are only $10. The décor is industrial chic, with candles strewn high on shelves through to recycled industrial walls and even the paintings.

We commenced with crab cornetto - savoury cornetto cones filled with fresh crab meat and a special avocado topping. These were so cute and both of us being seafood lovers these were a good way to start our meal.

To drink we had cocktails. Mlady had  a classic - Mojito and it was described in the menu as a Cuban classic - Bacardi, lime, sugar and mint. This is such a great easy drinking cocktail. Sir had the Green Joywhich was Lily's signature cocktail - with vodka, midori and apple schnapps. Sir enjoyed this refreshing green drink.

Next we had the Shredded Pastry Wrapped bocconcini fried for that melt in your mouth sensation and dressed with a creamy pesto.   The shredded pastry had such a great crunch taste and they really did melt in your mouth. These were good, really good.

Then we had Potato and Eggplant Stack - delicious potato and eggplant combo dressed with Lily's secret sauce and sprinkled with sweet potato straws. Another very tasty dish with a good combination of textures. We think that Eggplant can be an under used vegetable. The eggplantpartnered with all the other goodies and that oh delicious sauce made this such a tasty dish. We thoroughly enjoyed this dish especially Mlady.

We then had the Beef Shin Medallions - beef shin braised to perfection for more than 12 hours in a white rabbit ale stew creating the perfect texture of an aromatic charred beef medallion served on a bead of fresh leaves and spiced jalapeno mayo and thyme. As the menu described this dish was just that. Such a lovely dish with an "oh wow - such a great bite"! This dish had a winning combination. We loved it.

The degustation platter - a stunning display of mixed cured meats, cheeses, fruit and a few of our chef's delights for your pure pleasure. Again as described on the menu this was a lovely array of yummy goodies. We had a serving of sourdough and apricot, walnut, orange zest and sultana bread. This bread was even lovely to eat by itself as well as piling on some of the meat and cheese.

For dessert we had the Black Forest Surprise described on the menu as (adults only) Black forest gateaux with sour morello cherries and Kirsch. Again as per the menu this dessert lived up to its description. This was a yummy tantalising dessert and we were so glad that we were adults!

The menu at Little Lily's has a great and varied selection and the food is really tasty with unique textures and flavours.

Sir and Mlady dined as guests of Little Lily's. Thank you to Gina for taking care of us. A big thank you to owners Jorke and Bronagh for spending time with us on the night and for this invitation.
