LE CUPCAKE LOUNGE | WAVERLEY, SYDNEY

Le Cupcake Lounge
302 Bronte Rd
Waverley, Sydney

Le cupcake lounge is a beautiful little cafe situated in Waverley in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. It's interior is as cute as its name, decorated with relaxed lounge furniture (but also has some equally comfortable tables with chairs). A lovely spot to enjoy a cup of coffee, a bite to eat or enjoy some delicious sweet creations.

As soon as we walked in, our eyes were immediately drawn to a long line up of colourful cupcakes on the bench (YUM) but also to a tray of sweets labelled "Donuffs" (more on that later).

We found a seat at the back and started our experience with a long black and a flat white. They serve award winning coffee brothers here so no surprise the coffee is great. It's a local brew too.

Now, they might not do bacon and eggs here but everything else they serve definitely makes up for it, rest assured.

Count J started with the vegetarian wrap which was generously filled with fried egg, lettuce and thin slices of cucumber, it was light and full of flavour. Count N ordered the BLT, an unusual choice for him but oh so worth it.

We've had some BLT's in our time but the one here at Le Cupcake Lounge is a mile ahead of anything we've had so far. Firstly, it's slightly on the spicy side due to the chipotle mayonnaise and a fairly decent amount of decadent provolone cheese. But if that wasn't enough, It's served with Schiacciatta bread, a flat bread full of flavour that's a top treat in Tuscany and now served right here in Waverley.

We also shared a vegetarian frittata which was so fresh and fluffy, we devoured it in seconds.

Next up, something sweet and we started with a beautiful dark chocolate cupcake that can only be described as luxurious. It was fresh, light and smothered with a divine honey cinnamon butter frosting.

The vanilla cupcake with white chocolate frosting was just as good, if not better. We couldn't pick which one we liked the most.

Finally, we tried a couple of Donuffs. They are literally half donut-half muffin, baked not fried and delicious. There are two kinds to choose from, Nutella and Berry Yoghurt and yes, we did try both. Count N's favourite was the Nutella Donuff, it was light and fresh and had a surprising caramel layer in the middle which was a wonderful surprise. Count J loved the Berry Yoghurt one. These little treasures are a store specialty and you won't find them anywhere else, not in Sydney anyway. Be sure to try them.

Le Cupcake Lounge wowed us with their delicious food, great coffee and sweet creations that are original and delicious. Everything is made fresh in store everyday, so  check them out next time you are in the mood for something sweet (or savoury).

And , if you ever feel like sending someone a box of cupcakes, Le Cupcake Lounge can cater for you and for a small fee, even deliver them.

The Counts, who review for Sir and Mlady Dine Out, dined as guests of Le Cupcake Lounge. Special thanks to Michael and Tony from the great meal deal site Ompty.com for arranging this visit.
