Well, from the the glorious staircase you see when you first enter East Ocean Seafood Restaurant, you know that you will experience something wonderful!

Once you reach the top of the stairs, your eyes will go wide at the visually amazing beautiful blue lighting on a wall of fish tanks that you could say “glows”. The blue lighting really is gorgeous as is the elegant decor.

This place is big and there are rooms for private functions as well curtained-off alcoves off the the side to cater for private intimate meals with an elegant black mesh curtain that you could pull across for added privacy.

We started our Yum Cha with some very refreshing and traditional Jasmine tea.

We also indulged in some refreshing cocktails with Sir having the unforgettably named Sex on the Beach and Mlady having her go-to of a cosmopolitan. Very nice!

Ordering is a fun exercise here. You get an iPad with a touch screen and you simply press what you want and confirm it. It’s a great way to see what’s available and really easy to use.

We were spoiled for choice in the dumpling department and started with some crispy prawn dumplings. These were very nicely crisped with plenty of prawn filling. Dipping them in the sweet chilli sauce and the soy and chilli sauce was delicious. We loved them!

The steamed flour buns with shiitakes were impressive. They resembled giant mushrooms. They were so soft and when you bit into them you saw and tasted a lovely filling of mushrooms. This was a very pretty and tasty dish.

Another dumpling dish we had was the signature shrimp dumpling. These were vibrant dumplings with great flavour.

We’ve always been partial to pork pies and so we eagerly grabbed a serving. The crispy flaky pastry revealed a sweet tasty pork filling inside. Lovely!

No surprises - we just had to try a duck dish. We do enjoy duck especially Sir. The duck pancakes were divine. Its fun making them up and of course then eating your creation. Loved this.

Still with the duck theme, we had the salt and pepper duck and tried it. OMG. Such a scrumptious dish. Plenty of duck with plenty of flavour. This dish ticked all the boxes.

Yum Cha has great desserts and Mlady always has to have the egg custard tart. This was light, with lovely egg custard flavours that just melted as she bit into it. They were beautifully warm when they landed at the table too.

The gold dusted charcoal creamy custard bun was an interesting dessert. The gold dust looked so good on the black. it was light and fluffy and the rich tasty custard filling oozed out as you bit into it.

The crispy kataifi coconut rolls were our next choice. They were nicely crisped with a subtle coconut flavour and a nice soft crunch.

Mango pancakes are a favourite of Sir’s. These were deliciously cool with a yummy mango and cream filling.

The Yum Cha at East Ocean Seafood Restaurant is tasty, fresh and very flavoursome. The menu is diverse and there is certainly something for everyone.

Sir and Mlady dined as guests of East Ocean Seafood Restaurant. Thank you to Jasmine for taking care of us so well on our visit. Special thanks also to Jason from Spooning Australia for arranging this visit.
