AVENUE RD CAFE | MOSMAN, SYDNEY

October 2, 2016

Avenue Rd Cafe
185 Avenue Road
Mosman, NSW

Just when we thought we had tried every good brunch spot In Sydney, along comes Avenue Rd cafe and we have a new entry on the list.

You'll find Avenue Rd cafe in the heart of Mosman, a stone's throw away from the main strip giving it a perfect mix of vibe and location. The space is relaxed with white walls and comfortable seating. You'll also see some nice artwork on the walls too.

We arrived for lunch on a rainy Sunday and were very pleased to hear that on the weekends, they have both an all day breakfast as well as a lunch menu. This made us very happy as one of us felt like coffee while the other was after a glass of wine (Avenue Rd cafe is licensed).

We started with the barramundi fillet. A beautifully cooked piece of fish with a skin so crispy, you could hear it snap as you cut into it. It was served with sweet potato chips, fennel salad and a coriander and pistachio pesto. An amazing combination of flavours which we absolutely loved.

Next up some BBQ duck crepes. A great looking dish with a unique blend of flavours. The fluffy crepes were generously filled with big pieces of duck confit, creme fraiche, sweet corn and pitted cherries. The hint of sweetness from the cherries and corn blended so well with the duck and creme fraiche. It really worked well and brought out the flavour of the duck beautifully.

We also had the chicken schnitzel which we saw earlier being served to the table next to us and just by sight, couldn't resist ordering. We're so glad we did though. The chicken was soft and tender. It was nestled in a crispy herb crust which we kept on dipping in the lovely chilli Mayo it came with. Oh, and did we mention the piece of schnitzel was huge? Pretty much a serving for two people.

Finally, just before we left, we snuck in a couple of sweet things too, a beautiful double chocolate brownie and a caramel slice. Made fresh on premises (like everything else here) they were full of sweet goodness. A great finisher to a perfect lunch.

Avenue Rd cafe ticked all the boxes for us. Great Service, amazing food and a fun relaxed atmosphere. If you are looking a great place for your next brunch, lunch or even breakfast, make sure you check out Avenue Rd in Mosman. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you to Katie at Wasamedia for organising our visit and to the staff at Avenue Rd for looking after us so well on the day.
