THE BREWERY BAR & KITCHEN | NOVOTEL SYDNEY OLYMPIC PARK, NSW

September 14, 2016

The Brewery Bar and Kitchen
Novotel Sydney Olympic Park

Under the Novotel building and opening out onto the street is the expansive Brewery Bar and Kitchen. With industrial style chic and both outdoor and indoor seating, it has a friendly and sociable feel to it. We liked the casual atmosphere of this place and found plenty of parking both on the street and in the underground carpark.

The menu is uncomplicated but well chosen, with small share plates and plank pizzas, several antipasto combinations to pick at (called Brewery Boards), or hearty fare such as steaks, schnitzel, burgers and fish. That seems to cover quite a lot of tastes.

We started with the Salt and Pepper Squid (a classic) which was really generous and crispy, served with sambal and lemon and the best chips! A good start!

Next on the hit list was The Mezz – a Brewery Board selection of cured meats, olives, dips, melon, bocconcini and a bucket of breads of all styles. This was quite a substantial dish and great to share. Very good!

The grilled 200g beef steak came next, with red wine butter served in a cute tub, fries and salad leaves. The salad was fresh and the steak was cooked to order.

Not much room left, but the desserts sounded too good to refuse! “Cheesed” was our first choice -  a lovely individual light cheesecake with vanilla ice cream and crunchy meringue drops. The best part was the unexpected salted caramel sauce! Delectable with the cheese cake. A truly delicious dessert!

Our second dessert was a special for the day – a light and tasty tira-misu with berries, coulis and strawberries. It was surprisingly light, with a smooth, creamy filling which we loved. Needless to say, we demolished them both.

After a coffee and tea, Dame K and I agreed we would like to come back and perhaps check out the Saturday night scene - maybe sample the specialty brew (The Brick Pit). There are daily specials and event day menus with DJ’s playing the latest stuff. Open Monday to Saturday from 11am. Thanks to Nadia for spending time with us and making us feel welcome and to the team for organising our visit.
