MERCADO | SYDNEY CBD

Mercado
4 Ash Street
Sydney CBD

We were in Sydney and thought - how about a good dessert to end a good night?

So, we popped into Mercado. It's an impressive venue where you walk downstairs and you can see the hustle and bustle of the street above you out through highlight windows.

The main menu certainly looked interesting but we went straight for the dessert one as planned and it had lots of ooh la la combinations.

Mlady chose the  Rose meringue, watermelon & pistachio. This was spectacular. Such a work of art and it was a substantial serving! It was so light - as a good meringue should be. The taste was glorious. The coolness of the watermelon added a wonderful taste sensation to the soft crunchiness of the rose flavoured meringue and ice cream. A truly delicious dessert.

Sir - a HUGE fan of Pedro Ximinez -opted for the  hazelnut mousse cake, Pedro Ximinez & gold leaf. Oh wow - such a shame to devour an absolute mouth-watering dessert that tantalised his taste buds with the sheer aroma of the yummo chocolate and was "as pretty as a picture". The gold leaf stood out on thye chocolate coating - stunning! Sir did kindly share this with Mlady who - as we know is a bit of a chocoholic. She was very appreciative.

These desserts were divine - and the perfect tipple to go with them was of course - Pedro Ximinez - so we greabbed a couiple of glasses as it was on the drinks list!

Mercado impressed us. It's clearly a venue that prides itself on quality food that not only looks good but tastes even better. We can't wait to go back and try the starters and mains there another time.
