ESPRESSO ON SUSSEX LANE | SYDNEY CBD

Espresso on Sussex Lane
Sussex Lane
Sydney, NSW

Espresso on Sussex Lane is nestled in the heart of the CBD, quite close to Barangaroo and Wynyard Station. It boasts a great outdoor seating area, and plenty of tables. Quite recently opened, the decor is modern and decorative.

Offering all-day breakfast, lunch and now open on weekends, Espresso on Sussex Lane is a great option for Sydney workers, weekend visitors and for catch-ups. Duke and Duchess visited over lunch on a Friday, and it was certainly bustling and busy, with a great vibe. We ordered an iced chocolate and a super berry protein smoothie. Both presented on leaf-shaped plates, they looked excellent. The iced chocolate was just the right amount of chocolate without being overbearing, and the smoothie was not too sweet and serviced with some frozen berries as an extra touch.

Duke ordered the red pepper and haloumi burger, which was a very generous serving. The burger itself was on a brioche bun, with oodles of aioli, haloumi, roasted red pepper (capsicum), spanish onion and rocket. Oozing with sauce and a great combination of flavour made this burger a winner, however perhaps a bit of crunch might have really perfected the burger. The hot chips were seasoned nicely and the salad was a nice way to make you feel a little less guilty!

Duchess had the potatoes bravas which came recommended by the staff. The dish was certainly a unique take on the more traditional dish. Served on a bed of spinach, with crispy potato, chorizo and a fried egg, covered in a chilli oil, this dish had a great punch of flavour. While enjoyable, perhaps a little less spinach and a little more potato would have made this dish an absolute winner.

All in all Espresso on Sussex Lane is a great little CBD joint. Thanks to the staff for their hospitality and to April at CPM Online Marketing for organising our visit.
