To some, in fact to many, dessert is the most important “meal” of the day. It’s definitely a big part of a great night out. In the restaurant hub of Crows Nest this place, C9 Chocolate and Gelato, draws a constant flow of foot traffic through their doors for a sweet finale to what has often been a nearby meal.
The indulgently named Brownie Smackdown grabbed our attention. It wasn’t something for the fainthearted and Sir felt he was up to the challenge and who would doubt him! It had a lot going on and it was all chocolate. It had a warm chocolate brownie topped with chocolate gelato and a waffle cone, a tub of melted Belgian chocolate at the side and brownie cubes there as well. If you like chocolate, and plenty of it, then head for this dessert.
Mlady was far more conservative and chose a chocolate gelato in a cone. It was a big serving for just a single scoop and she really enjoyed it.
The real challenge here when you want gelato is that there are so many choices. It’s certainly worth having a long hard look at all the different flavours. They have all the traditional ones and plenty of quite unusual options too. If you’re really not sure you can ask to taste a sample on a spoon. They’re more than willing to do this here.
There’s a lot more than gelato here too. When you enter there’s a very tempting display of donuts that are pretty hard to miss or resist. We nearly grabbed some to take away!
This is a busy place, especially on a Friday or Saturday evening. Most people come in to grab something to take away but there are some tables there for dining in. There are so many different choices it takes a while sometimes. Don’t rush it - take your time.
We certainly got our sweet hit here. The food was good and it arrived quickly even though the place was very busy. It hit the spot!
