BREW CREW - ST IVES, SYDNEY

Brew Crew is a small place in St Ives that is only marginally bigger then a hole in the wall. There is a small amount of inside seating and a few spaces outside. they do a busy take away trade too but do cater for those that want to sit down and grab a brew and a bite.

Well with a name like Brew Crew it was of course quite appropriate to start with a brew - or coffee to be precise. We ordered a couple and then set about deciding what food we wanted. The coffee was good too - which also helps explain the steady stream of take away orders.

Sir was veering towards eggs and once he spotted the Eggs Benedict on the menu it was an easy choice. You can have either ham or for a few bucks extra - smoked salmon. Uncharacteristically, he chose the ham, just for a change. It was a big serving with two nicely poached eggs sitting atop a pile of ham and baby spinach all on toasted sourdough. The drizzling of fairly mild hollandaise sauce capped it all off nicely.

Mlady went for a simpler meal of toasted sourdough with peanut butter. It was nice to see a good sized serving of peanut butter arriving with the toast too. We both love the occasional peanut butter hit so her choice wasn’t a total surprise.

The front counter has an interesting selection of sweet treats too - slices, muffins and banana bread. These looked like big servings too but the coffee and cooked breakfasts seemed to be the big movers on the day we were there.

Brew Crew is a small place that’s easy to miss as it isn’t inside the shopping centre there. In fact it’s down the end of the row of shops towards Mona Vale Rd - so a bit out of the way but yet quite close by. It’s worth a wander down there though for a decent brew and some good food.
