We were in need of a quickish meal before heading off somewhere else in the city and meandered around until we found this place. Mlady wanted something Italian and the menu had just that.

The place has a nice feel to it - timber, subdued, moody and intriguing. Take a wander down the arcade though and you'll discover there are actually several completely separate spaces to Assembly Bar. We were in the restaurant this time but there's a bar area and an "outdoor" areas too - which is indoor but outside in the arcade.

We were seated quickly and perusing the menu with an Italian red wine on the way. A good start! Decisions decisions. The food looked good.

Mlady chose the Pappardelle - a wide and substantial pasta she always loves. This was served with traditional slow cooked beef ragu that was tender, tasty and a decent sized serving too. It was exactly what she was looking for.

Sir loves pasta and seafood - a combination that hits the spot. This Tagliolini al Nero di Seppia was black squid ink tagliolini sauteed with wild spanner crab, king prawns and baby truss tomatoes. The dark pasta looked great on the plate and the mix of seafood tasted great with it.

The service was attentive, friendly and helpful. We both agreed that this is a place, or group of places, worth dropping by again.
