EATING IN ROME - DAY 1

Eating in Rome - Day 1

Thought we'd put up some of our other food pictures from our trip to Europe - starting with Rome. We've also included a few non-food pictures as well. We'll try to put a different day or place up each week.

The food in Rome was lovely, as many would know. It's not the same as Italian food in Australia where we've adapted recipes or where we've demanded more fillings and extras in many cases. Often simple good food can impress just as much as complex dishes. There's sometimes a purity to a simple dish made with good ingredients. We found that out on so many occasions. Apart from the food, the history is amazing. Everywhere you go you see things that leap off the pages of a book or from a film.

Trevi Fountain at night

You have to explore a bit - going down laneways and alleys. Often this will lead you to hidden gems.

We found a lovely restaurant with an al fresco area stretching along the laneway (which wasn't unusual) and decided to have their set three course menu for dinner.

Topped off with a carafe of house red it made a lovey finish to a day of exploring.
