Cockle Bay Wharf
Darling Harbour, Sydney
If you're going to a place called Nick's Seafood it's highly likely you're going there for the seafood, even though they do serve a wide variety of other dishes as well. True to this, we were after something from the water - but with so many choices it was hard to decide. Nick's is an iconic place - very well known, great location and their seafood platters are ogled and envied by many passers by.
As we really wanted variety - and, lets face it, lots of seafood - we ended up choosing a seafood platter. It was really a no-brainer. Once we'd seen these enormous platters on other tables we just had to have one.
There was certainly plenty of variety too. Golden tempura King prawns, blue swimmer crab, Sydney rock oysters, Tasmanian smoked salmon, catch of the day, fresh King prawns, Balmain bug, salt and pepper baby calamari, potato salad and avocado all served with chips. The next question was where to start?
Long story short we started with the hot food while it was still hot. But it was a hard decision as the cold food looked just as good too.
Nick's Seafood is iconic for a number of reasons. We really enjoyed the views out over Darling Harbour but the service was also a highlight. And last but not least - there was the abundant tasty seafood.
